My dog has a heart mumer at the rate of 5 the vet has told me she will not live a year, can anyone who has a dog with a heart mumer tell me what will happen leading to the end of my dog's life?

how old is the puppy my dog had qiet a bad heart murmer and he was fine and my mates dog had one aswell and he is fine maybe you should pay for a second opion

Hi. Sorry to here about your dog. I had a cocker spaniel with a murmur rated 4. He was a happy and healthy dog who exhibited no symptoms and I made the choice not to put him through the various exploritory tests that I was offered as these would just have confirmed the diagnosis and given me a rough estimate of his expected life span. He lived a normal dog life with lots of excercise and playing with my retriever and kids. Unfortuneately we lost him in June, aged only 20 months. Possibly due to the heat this summer, who knows. There was no suffering involved, he had a walk, came home and lay in the kitchen, 10 mins later he had died. A friend of mine had a Boxer witha grade 6 murmur, she lived to 10 and died in her sleep.

i would get a second opinn from a spec vet,go from there,but just let the dog have a normal and happy free life,but at lease with the spec vet will tell you what to look out for if he gets bad,just enjoy the dog now.
