Anything that wheezes or has wrinkles :)

- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 03.09.03 17:42 UTC
Right then, why don't you like small dogs. Is it because you think that they'll just sit around all day doing nothing? Wrong. Is it because you don't think that they're as intelligent as the bigger breeds? I had a Pomeranian that I did obedience with and boy did he pick it up quickly, he was named in the top three as being one of the best dogs at the training club and he'd only been going for 3 months.

Some dogs may be small but boy do they have brains.

Have to say though I'd never have a Peke. There's a breed in the rare breeds in the utility group, is it the Greenland dog, I've only seen a few and they don't seem to be the most outgoing around (sorry owners) oh and Poodles (like my dogs to look natural, or is that scruffy:d)
- By Daisy [gb] Date 03.09.03 18:01 UTC
I have nothing against small dogs - it's the owners that don't treat them like dogs that's the problem :D Neighbours have a Papillon/Chihuahua cross that goes for hikes across the muddy fields even in sub-zero temperatures - lovely dog (although I'd be afraid of treading on it :) )

- By dizzy [gb] Date 03.09.03 23:06 UTC
excuse me  leave wrinkles out of it, :( nothing wrong with wrinkles, -youll have your very own someday :D
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 03.09.03 17:38 UTC
Any small dogs ..I just couldn't cope with a small breed...no offence to anyone that has them , just my personal preference :)
- By chaliepud [gb] Date 03.09.03 17:41 UTC
Anything that can't run and jump well enough to do agility! :D (Well, at least until I get old anyway!)

(And Chihuahua is spelt like this!)
- By liberty Date 03.09.03 18:54 UTC
Thanks for correcting me...............should have known it was too good to be true.... spelling that is ;)

liberty
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 03.09.03 18:01 UTC

Hi,
I'm afraid that I'm in the wouldn't have "any small doggie" category.
Nothing against them, just I've grown up with larger breeds, I'm sure that little dogs are great! Just not for me :)

Not offended at all, but with me it is the opposite. I don't like them to have floppy ears.

No Spaniels, Mastiff Breeds or Toy dogs. dogs with neat drop ears are OK, but I basically can't abide slobber. Also I cannot see the point of toy/dwarf breeds. I used to breed rabbits, and if I wanted something small I would do so again.
- By robert23 [gb] Date 03.09.03 19:04 UTC
yorkie there too small and i might stepo on it knowing me and they cower at anything
Chihuahu same as yorkie but also have the most ear peircing bark i have ever heard
toy poodle they take years of grooming and always go in the worst spots in the grass
hot dog they dont do much lol

no offence to these dogs they just arent for me im afraid

OOOHHHH!!!
Ok..here we go.....
Shanauzers..In my eyes, the trim is so ugly, it makes them look like dirty old men.
Also, chihuahuas and deffinatly pekenese's! To me they are incredibly ugly.
Err, Im not a fan of most small breeds. I also really dislike poodles when they have a stupid trim (they can be ok when they are normal looking)
...I think there are several others too....chinese crested too....eeewwww!

:)
- By liberty Date 03.09.03 19:13 UTC
Steph, don't hold back... just say what you mean ;) :D :D

liberty :)
- By steph n millie [gb] Date 03.09.03 19:24 UTC
lol Liberty :D
Sorry, just venting some anger:) Having a bad day..I broke my other halfs radio controlled plane this evening. I thought I would have a go at flying it and I flew it straight into some tennis courts, narrowly missing some people heads....oops. Lost a few brownie points so I am in the "dog house" tonight, ( the plane isnt working properly now)
- By liberty Date 03.09.03 19:36 UTC
 Things can only get bitter.............. er I mean better :)

liberty ;)
- By steph n millie [gb] Date 03.09.03 19:42 UTC

Don't worry Steph, it's obviously a girl thing! Honey (Top Dog!) was chasing a remote controlled jeep round the field the other day, I called her off, but the guys that were in control (?!) said not to worry, she won't catch it and drove it close by to tease her ......... not realising how quick a dogs reactions are unfortunately :D
- By steph n millie [gb] Date 03.09.03 20:47 UTC
heh heh,..thats a good one. I bet their faces were a picture!! :D :D
What did you do? I dont suppose there was much that could be done really, it was their fault :)
Was there much left of the jeep afterwards?

I was out with some other dogs a couple of weeks ago and there was a bloke in the park flying his plane (good thing I didnt take over the controls of his one) and no sooner had we stepped into the park and unclicked the leads..off ther went..3 large dogs chasing this plane as it began to lose altitude..then, not content with barking at it, they all 3 of them chased the poor bloke around the park :D :D It was so funny I could hardly call them back.
Arent dogs great!!! :D
- By floozy [gb] Date 03.09.03 21:27 UTC
I dont know what they are called but the dogs with no fur, yuk, I would be embarrassed to walk it.
- By lel [gb] Date 03.09.03 21:34 UTC
chinese crested ???
- By bob [gb] Date 03.09.03 22:00 UTC
Mexican Hairless???
- By saffy [gb] Date 04.09.03 19:07 UTC
ok- sorry to anyone who has one, but my no.1 worst dog is...........
......................
..................
Hairless Chinese Crested. They look like they have been drowned and starved...
second- ibizan hound
third chihuhua
- By hairy hound [gb] Date 03.09.03 21:43 UTC
Pugs,Pekes Chiwotsits and most small dogs as I am a larger dog lover...some smaller breeds do appeal as I could have them on my lap though ...but they must be hairy and scruffy!

No doubt small breed owners hate the thought of larger dogs or hairy ones so I hope I dont cause offence!

- By dizzy [gb] Date 03.09.03 23:21 UTC
sloughi , and the new breed in that looks very much like it, cant remember its name, i couldnt live with a peke either ,
- By Staffie lover [gb] Date 04.09.03 01:14 UTC
in general i don't like any small breed dog (i don't even like Stafford's that are under 14")
i also don't like GSD but that is because i got bite by one when i was a kid and i don't like Doberman's but i do like Rotties

Natalie :D
- By dollface Date 04.09.03 01:31 UTC
Any size poodle, sorry but they seem way to snobbish - same as the afghan (sp) :( sorry

Peke's they remind me of my grandma's kleenix box holder she had :D

Corgies they are right up their with datshounds and chi (sp again) anything low to the ground like that.

I don't care much for small breeds unless they have wrinkles and pushed in faces like the Boston Terriers, bulldog, and frenchy.

ttfn :)
- By steph n millie [gb] Date 04.09.03 08:42 UTC
ooh, yeah, dont like corgis either.
- By cissy Date 04.09.03 10:56 UTC
Can I persuade anyone to like Corgis? :)

They are working dogs - not comparable to a toy breed or a dachshund. They have a deep bark and a waterproof coat that Charles Darwin would be proud of. The only small thing about them is their short legs as everything else about them is huge.
ok so Lascaux doesn't do much cattle herding but he climbs mountains, swims in lakes etc and in all respects is a proper dog albeit it one prone to a dirty undercarriage LOL. Even Queenie works hers ...
Cissy xx
- By chaliepud [gb] Date 04.09.03 12:13 UTC
I like Corgis and Vallhunds, we are getting an Aussie Cattle Dog so must have a soft spot for all heeler type dogs. They are all capable of a good days work if kept to their correct weight and given plenty of exercise
- By cissy Date 04.09.03 12:53 UTC
Hooray Chaliepud! I'm originally from the same place as the bluey and never saw a fat one - what colour is yours going to be?
- By chaliepud [gb] Date 04.09.03 17:43 UTC
Blue! We have just had the chance of a red one, but are determined to wait for a blue boy, a blue girl was mated 3.5 weeks ago (to a blue boy) so we are optimistic that we will have a pup by xmas - we have waiting about a year already

Up with the heelers!!! :D
- By Char123 [gb] Date 04.09.03 06:38 UTC
Shar-pei, Pug, Boxer
- By Lois_vp [gb] Date 04.09.03 07:12 UTC
Pekes, Staffies and Boxers don't do it for me :)
- By Stacey [gb] Date 04.09.03 07:13 UTC
Wow. I am surprised at how many people do not like small dogs. There is size prejudice even in the dog world. :-) I've had big dogs (GSDs) and small dogs (Cairn is actually my smallest, my Yorkie was way oversize.) My Yorkie and my Cairns have all been tough, robust dogs. I do understand the dislike of tiny, fragile, yappy, yippy specimens, however.

Dogs I would not have are any of the corded breeds. Kommodore, Puli. Too weird and too hard to groom.
Pekes. Look like they have been flattened by a steam roller used to press asphalt (tarmac) in road works.
Australian Cattle Dogs. I just think they are ugly.

Here goes, St Bernard, Border Collie and toy poodle.

There Big, medium and small !!

St Bernard cause I knew one once and all I rememeber is the continual stream of slobber, BC's because I am not really sure but just wouldn't have one and Toy poodles because they remind me of old ladies with blue rinses.

No offense meant to anybody :) I love all woofs really ! ;)

- By KateM Date 04.09.03 09:25 UTC
Ok....the three breeds I wouldn't have

Canan Dogs (can't see the point), Beagle (just don't like them), weimeraner (can't cope with light eyes).

Kate
(whose vallhunds don't consider themselves to be little dogs)
- By Carla Date 04.09.03 09:33 UTC
Have to agree on the St Bernard...I met one once and it slobbered green slime up my arm...it was a smelly, green, rubbery consistancy and it actually made me sick. I couldn't touch one again, let alone own one!
- By LJS Date 04.09.03 09:37 UTC
I think it put me off as well cause the owner was so much like the dog ! Big , hairy and slobbered every where ! :). No wonder her husband left her !! :D

Lucy
- By Carla Date 04.09.03 11:10 UTC
ROFL :D Don't you just hate women with beards? :D :D
- By LJS Date 04.09.03 11:16 UTC
The trouble is I always did wonder the origin of her beard :eek :D :D

Oh it brings back so many bad memeories of that woman, she was so scarey.
