Our due date (63 days) was yesterday. Koty's temp dropped to 97.7 in the afternoon and remained low through the night. This morning it had gone back up to 98.4, then later to 99.4, now it is back down to 99.2. She is panting, or breathing hard almost all the time, she doesn't want to leave her whelping room, but those are the only obvious signs. What do you guys think? She had been licking quite a bit, but now seems to be dry. Any response is appreciated!

Hi she is in labour so just watch her call your vet to tell them she has started so they will be ready if you need them you might need to help her when the first pup comes out keep in touch but please call your vet has she had a litter before.

any sign of any pups yet?

Sorry for the delay! We've got 11 healthy pups! I think she just wanted me to get out of the way. She had them the minute I left her alone for a couple of hours and I only got to help with the last three. Everyone is healthy and steadily gaining weight, mom's doing well. Wasn't expecting so many! X-ray only showed 7!

I'm afraid if I disclose my breed I'll get a lot of criticism so let me just say this - I don't regret this one time litter. It was planned, but I have done a lot of thinking and research since the breeding and I don't feel it is responsible of me to do this again. I'm taking many steps to be responsible with this litter. All of my buyers must be approved through application/interview and home screening. My vet has agreed to do early spay/neuter for my litter so no one will be adding to the overpopulation of dogs or irresponsibly breeding my pups! So, please don't bury me in negative criticism :)

Congratulations on your litter, hope all goes well. I just hope they're not pit bulls!!

No, not pit bulls, but I don't have anything against a well-raised pit. I had one before that was the sweetest thing you'd ever meet - dumb as a box of rocks :) but very cute and sweet.

Pups are doing great with some help from a bottle! Everyone is gaining weight consistently. They are all fat and asleep right now. Mom's not eating as well as I'd like. Going to try a few things different tomorrow....she's being very picky for some reason.

Thanks for your comments! I'll keep you guys posted to new developments. A couple were born with dew claws so we're going to get those removed on Monday.
