hi i just wonderd if anyone could give me any information on kc reg,s ive been offerd a puppy rottweiler with out a kc reg but both mum and dad is kc reg and pedigree just wanted to no what people thought regards kellie

If both mum and dad are KC registered, I would be very suspicious about why the puppies haven't been registered.

Don't you wonder why, if both parents are KC reg, the breeder has not registered their pups? It would bother me, and I'm afraid I would be going elsewhere.

Hi Kellie, only the puppy's breeder can register it with the Kennel Club. If it is the breeder that is 'offering' you the puppy, then ask them to register it. If it's not the breeder that is the current owner, then you might be on a hiding to nothing, and if that's the case then I'd give this situation a wide berth. You should ask yourself why the puppy is not already registered!!! There might be a bad reason.

Have you already owned this breed?
I am not doubting youbut they arent for 1st time owners.
- By kellie [gb] Date 02.09.03 19:27 UTC
yes ive owned both male and female rottweilers i split from my huspand and the breeder took them in for me she got alot of interest after them so i told her to find them new homes as i didnt no how long it would be till i had my own house again she decided to keep my bitch both of which ive seen since and are both looking nice dogs thats what i thought about the kc reg,s i thought that if the puppies mum and dad was kc reg why wasnt she kc reging the puppies sounds fishy to me
- By xtc [gb] Date 02.09.03 19:38 UTC
Well why not go back to the breeder you had them from then?
Was there any problems with them?
- By kellie [gb] Date 02.09.03 19:49 UTC
ive tryed the breeder i got them from had my male and female from a great rottweiler breeder they was both from the same breeder ive been in touch with her and she has no puppies and isnt haven another litter till next yeah now their seems to be very little rottie pups around at the min and both rotties was great with my kids great with other dogs and very easy to train would snap the breeders hand off if she had puppies now regards kellie

I think in your position I would wait for your original breeder to have another litter. I know the waiting will be awful, but you were obviously pleased with your other dogs, and she certainly showed herself to be a responsible breeder by taking back your dog. If, as you say, puppies are so difficult to find, you will at least know that you are on someones list. Otherwise you could spend months looking and still be no nearer getting a pup.

Umm call me naive but... Rottie owners were ALL 1st time owners one time....

2nd there could be a good reason for not registering like a responsible breeder who deosnt want them bred from...

Personally I would ALWAYS want to see the parents, or at the very least their mum in situ. Thinks its a case of not being afraid to ask questions about what it is that doesn't sound right, or sounds 'out of kilter' like... why hasn't the pup been registered...

Regards Dave, for what its worth

Sorry Dave, but if a breeder doesn't want their pups bred from, then endorsements can be placed on their KC reg documents, so any pups cannot be registered, which is what may have happened on this occasion??

what they mean dave if you are starting with your first rottweiler its best to start with a bitch for some reason they say bitchs are easyer for first time rottweiler owners and to be honest i found both to be about the same in alot of the training thanks for your replie dave regards kellie

Trust your instincts Kellie, you're right to be suspicious, let us know how things go, and good luck with your new pup :)

It also depends upon how much they are asking. Are they asking a lot less than you would pay for a KC reg. one? If it's the same I wdn't touch them with a barge pole.
- By kellie [gb] Date 02.09.03 20:21 UTC
they are asking £350.00 for a non kc reg i paid £500.00 for mine off the other breeder just cant see why she doesnt want them kc registering myself
- By kennelsitter [gb] Date 02.09.03 22:37 UTC
Hi reading though the post there could be a number of reasons why they are not reg!!!
1. There bitch has indosements on here so they cant Reg the litter
2. The bitch has had a litter within the 12 mths so also cant be Reg.
3. Or they just cant be bothard to do it has it cost money to Reg a litter!!!
4. They just dont know how to Reg there litter?
The best and only way is to asked them outright why is the litter not being Reg??
If you are just looking for a pet then it does not rully matter abouts the Reg has long has they are reared well and the parents have good sound temperments!!!!
