At a show yesterday, I overhead the owner/handler of the dog that had won the group, tell the judge (who was later to judge best in show) that her dog was a ch!! The dog in question went onto be BIS! - if I was the owner I woudn't be satisified with that win!!

Also, the same handler positioned her dog's head in front of the line up - if I was the judge I'd have asked her to line the dog up with those in front. If it were a handling class, I'd have severely penalised a handler for doing this - why should the others in the class be disadvantaged - we all pay the same entry fee, and in return don't received a level playing field!!!

Praps it won because it was a good dog......hence its a champion!? !!
I am sure that any judge worth their salt can look over a line up of exhibits regardless of where a "pushy" handler has stood their dog....dont worry, just wait until you go BIS and someone will undoubtedly moan at that too! :)

Sam, I agree it has won many awards, but the fact is, regardless of this factor the handler should not have told the judge! After all, judges are not supposed (!) to see the catalogue telling them whether it is a ch until after judging!!

P.S. I doubt I'll get a BIS as I've a rare breed, and judges tend to stay safe and put up a 'proper' breed. Oh well, I could always inform the judge that he has a BD and numerous RBDs to his credit (!!!) or stand him rear facing the judge - might be interpreted as an opinion on the judging!!!!

I've seen this happen at plenty of show's,that the way it is and there's nothing we can do about it.the dog may of been the best in the final line up for B.I.S,but i suppose we'll never know.we where at birmingham on saturday and while we where waiting for the import reg to be call we sat and watched the A.V.N.S.C classes. then along came a very well know breeder/handerler, greeted the judge with a kiss in between his classes, then a few classes down the line in she trot with her dog, only to receive 1st in class, and then best in this certain group of avnsc, wont say which.
OK again it may of been the best dog ,but i think she could of at least make it less obvious to fellow exhibitor's that she knew the judge.

Hi Keisha
Suppose the short tight mini-skirt could have helped too :-)
My god I could not even imagine trying to show a staffie or Bordeaux - or any breed actually - dressed up like I was off to a night club!!! ha ha :D
