i dont mean to gross anyone out, but i do wonder why my dog does this.
once every month, i have to keep the bathroom door closed. why? because my female dog digs out the discarded wrapped up well, used menstral pads and brings out in living room and tears up to pieces. thank god noone else has seen that. why does my dog do that? she doesnt do anything else like chew things up etc, only that. i try to wrap them up good and hide deep in trash can, but if i dont keep the bathroom door closed , my back is turned and i can have a mess in the living room. she gets nothing else out, and never goes in kitchen garbage.
im not trying to be funny, i really wonder why my dog does this and wonder the reasoning behind it. she is 7month old chow mix.
anyone else have this problem?
All I can think of is she scents blood and gets curious. Personally I would get a closed top bin and keep the bathrom door shut all the time, as Id be worried about my dog eating soap or razors etc.

I have had the same thing happen, and anyone with a baby has to watch out for the used nappies not being shreded. it is the fascination with bocily fluids. I think either they see it as a source of food, or think it has to be cleaned away (as a bitch would clean herself or the faeces of her newborn to prevent detection by predators).
My male dog is the same with used pooey nappies, and had to be careful to empty potties very quickly, just a dog thing I suppose!

My friend's female Staff went down the bins when she had visitors and ran into the living room with a sanitary towel in her mouth - she was so embarrassed! Also, this is gross, her male staff used to wait for her to take her knickers off every night and try to chew them - yeeeow - she too had to do away with a washing basket and had a "special place" where the dog couldn't reach them. Dogs, who'd have em?!!!

I'd suggest that you use nappy sacks then to put them in (the scented ones) and a bin with a lid that the dog cannot open, and maybe the bathroom door closed.

I had this problem with a kitten earlier this year, she used to pick out the tampon applicators and bat them around ;6 I found a pedal bin worked and ive not had any problems with the pup :)

Its not too much of a problem as long as its discarded ones they are after and not ones in use.

To be perfectly honest have you not thought of using the "flushable" ones or if you cannot get those ones how about just taking the used ones downstairs with you and just putting them in your outside bin?
Simple solution :D :D

Mr Murphy
You are just gross!! ha ha :D :D
I think it disgusting. Just imagine if you had the vicar round for tea! Not that we do of course but just imagine :D

Taz did that once when we were not home. Came home to find the garbage all over the floor (hubby had the joy of cleaning it up, :D I was at work), then how I found out later that day Taz puked up a pad, how he managed to eat that I don't know. He left the tampons alone though. Grossed me out, we had to keep the bathroom door shut after that. Now he is not allowed upstairs so no more problems. Still get grossed out just thinking about it.
ttfn :)
