Any Champdoggers out there who follow a macrobiotic diet? I'm having a go at it at the moment but am finding it really hard to track down any recipe books. Speaking as a person devoid of any ability to cook, does anyone have any simple macro recipes they would enlighten me with?
In hope

Tried going macrobiotic in the 70s/80s - so I'm sure Ive still got some receipes somewhere! It does entail a very restrictive diet (lots of brown rice :D) - because you have to balance ying/yang!
I'll try & look some up tonight!

I really like the theory behind it, it sounds eminently sensible. I've only cut out dairy for three days and I already feel tons better ... awoke this morning feeling like a human being instead of a genetic experiment. I could just do with a few ideas for veggie dishes to go with the brown rice, while I'm waiting for some books from Amazon to arrive ... so far I've invented:
Chick pea stir fry with hatcho miso
Cabbage and pine nuts with hatcho miso (notice the developing theme? :D )
Btw Margot, is there anything you haven't tried? (No, don't tell me now - wait until the 9pm watershed. :D )
I'm not going to be a macro-extremist, just try and follow it most of the time.
Jo :)
I have a few if they involve no dairy
Gin and tonic
followed by a couple of glasses of
Shiraz
Do these count?

Well - still haven't done the hot air balloon :D :D :D - and I still haven't got a tattoo!
Don't forget when you're my age, it's not difficult to have done most things 1st time round - I was a hippy chick in the 60's :D :D
I might find my hippy beads and henna with my macrobiotic cook book (gave it up when I realised it wasn't a very good diet for babies to be on!)

Margot, if the opportunity to meet ever presents itself we must share a bottle of champagne (or 5). :D
Not very macro I know but ... dammit, someone get me some dairy products!!!

Well - we are doing Darlington (I think - 13th Sept??) isn't that your way?? We'll be there on Working/Pastoral day!
As for dairy - think that coconut milk might still slip under the macrobiotic bit :D - if not - what about a nice bit of stilton??
