i have 2 questions.... how old does ur dog have to b to start stud service? producin and all that? and wat are sum of the best dogs to breed?
- By lel [gb] Date 31.08.03 21:08 UTC
In theory they should all be the best if they are being bred.
Do you mean the best with regards to health or the best with regards to making money ??

i am talking about making money and good health... i think i am getting a mini schnauzer(M) wat r sum otha good breeds?

Surely breeding isnt about making money - surely its about enhancng the breed and producing better litters wouldnt you say ??

I'm sorry, but I really cannot stand "txt spk"...it is SO annoying. If you can't be bothered to type out a question properly then people probably can't be bothered to type out a response. Sorry.

The owner of a stud dog has a LEGAL obligation as well as a MORAL responsibility equal to that of the owner of the bitch - its not just a case of grab the cash man!

Firstly, you have to ensure that the pup you buy is of good stock (doesn't come cheap) and has all the necessary vaccinations in order to keep him in good health.

To have a good stud dog, your dog has to be an outstanding example of the breed, to have had the relevant extensive (and expensive) health tests and checks, which are not normally carried out until after the pup has reached 1 year of age - so you have to feed your pup correctly (usually expensively) for a full 12 months before anyone is going to want to use him at stud. Most owners of bitches will only want to use known dogs - which means that you will have to take the pup out - "get him known and shown" - which again is expensive.

Sorry - I just don't think it's for you - if you haven't got the patience to type a question correctly, I cannot see you having the patience to wait until you know that your pup is old enough to be used.

I certainly wouldn't let you have as much as a nodding dog for the back of your motor!

Never mind a nodding dog , i wouldnt sell him a motor !

If all you are interested in is making money then pick something other than dogs! That is not the reason I would ever find acceptable! If the only reason for picking a breed is that it's a money maker then stay out of dogs.

Hey I think I said all of that wrong, I didnt mean it like the way it came across. My apology. All I was asking is how long does it take for dogs to mature. I really like dogs and I have 1 Schnauzer mini. I was wondering when he would be able to reproduce. When I said money I said it as a joke. Sorry about that..

Well befor you use your Min Schnauzer get his eyes tested for PRA if he has it then you should not be breeding from him .
After you have had his eyes check try showing him and if hes good enough to win then think about studing him out only the good ones get used!!!
You have to spend a bit befor you make any thats if you make any at all??
Dog showing cost a lot around £3000 a year per dog to take one to all the major Champ shows entres petrel and over night stays cost so think hard its not an easy game to play!!!!

A good breed for making money is the french wabbler, they are funny coloured though and not to everyones taste, lime green and yellow spots bit like a ZIT
they breed huge litters and sell for thousands a pup.
You could also try to get a gremlin they dont even need to breed you just add water
you could get 2 of them and have hundreds in a day.:)
