I am so pleased to have found this site. I have a 4 year old Westie Bitch. I want to be able to leave her alone in the caravan when I go out for a meal etc, but she barks and cries ALL THE TIME once the door is locked. Does anyone have any ideas please? I leave her like I do in the house, treat/water, beanbag, radio on but nothing is working. Thanks

She's in a new place, without the sound deadening qualities of her home - she probably feels particularly vulnerable, so you'll have to teach her to be alone in the new place, just like you did at home - by leaving her for short periods and returning and praising her before she has the chance to start to bark - it may be only seconds (or less) to start with.......... Alternativley you could get her crate trained (which would be my preference, especially if it isn't you caravan, as it will limit the damage she may do whilst your gone). If she's trained to a crate, she will consider that her personal space, and that stays consistent.......
