Hi
When trying to stand male pups, is it normal for them to have their pencil / lipstick (or whatever anyone wants to call it) sticking out all the time. Please tell me it's normal. If so when do they grow out of it.

Yup , unfortunately it IS normal :D Excited little devils these boys. Hudson is now 20 months and he STILL has to show his to everyone when he knows he is going for a walk or getting a treat ;) He doesn't show it when we stand him now ...thank goodness , but I think he used to

My little man doesn't do it (that's my dog that I'm talking about), sorry to ask this, but where are your hands at the time when you are standing him:d

Thats the problem, very close, It's usually when I'm trying to lift his back end up to get his back legs in the right position. It obviously excites him. Hopefully he'll get used to it in time.

Do you lift him up from the backend then? Have you tried moving each leg from the bottom (of the leg that is).

Yes I have tried that, but he just moves them straight back again, or tries to sit down. I was advised to lift his whole back end off the floor and put them down again in the right place. Which I must admit works a lot better, as far as getting his legs in the right position.
