help , i have a boxer puppy who is gorgeous but the big problem i have is.... when she meets people and dogs on our walks she goes ballistic, leaping and jumping nobody can stroke her because shes going so crazy with excitement, is anyone elses boxer like this ? i take her to puppy classes and when i let her off with another pup to practise recall with her she plays okay then she starts growling at the other puppy's face while playing are boxers quite vocal in play ? or do you think she's being aggressive? shes 4 months old, any advice welcome!!!!!!!

quite normal i have a 4 month old red and white. who is like a coiled spring when he sees people approaching with a dog. first he will sit (if its a small dog he will lie down) then as soon as they are in leaping distance his little rudder wiggles then bang he is jumpping around like a gazelle

Hi
Your boxer sounds perfectly normal to me! I have 2 boys one who is 16 months and a 14 week old baby. When I have people round they both go mad jumping up and trying to get attention. If a guest sits on the sofa my oldest boy gets right behind them, puts his feet on their shoulders and nibbles their ears!!!
If you want to stop the jumping up (not sure if that is possible with a boxer!!) tell your guests to ignore her when they first arrive. Although she is only a baby now when she is fully grown and is jumping up it can hurt (I should know!!) because they to get to be very big and muscular.
Also when my boxers play together they made really strange noises and howl, they are just very vocal dogs and I don't think it means your dog is being aggresive.
Good luck

HI, we have a 2 year old Bull Boxer ( boxer /staff x ) his character is all boxer, the jumping up and vocal play is all part of the way they are, if its any consolation, he has now just started to jump less when we take him out for a walk, but he still jumps at guests when they come to visit in our home, the advise given about getting people to ignore your dog is very sound advise I think had we been firmer with the way our GUESTS were allowed to greet our dog when he was a puppy we would have less of a jumping problem today,we have the added problem of Bob looking like an APBT and therefore scares the pants off of anyone he goes to greet, but despite this the jumping the madness, he is the most loving and lovable dog in the world, Boxers have a great way about them and Im sure once you have got over the few teething problems your puppy may be having now you will have many years of fun and love , all the best.
