Ive heard that American Bulldog come in two varieities, Bully type which looks more like a Bulldog and terrier type which is more like a Pit but only in the face, not the rest of the body. I have to say ive seen many Am Bull and they all differ in looks so much. if its true that there are two varieites which one is more common and is the pit variety banned??

Hello Guest
Many well known breeders in this country would argue that there are only two types of American Bulldog.
And this is Standard and Classic.
But however there are different strains of these dogs and that is Johnson/Scott/Hines.
I have a Hines American Bulldog and i live in the UK. As Corso Girl said they are NOT banned in this country but there closest cousin is the American Pit Bull.
And if you are in the UK you should know that Pit Bulls are banned in this country. But NOT the American Bulldog whatever strain that may be.

great reply helen but would have to argue its not just pitbulls but pitbull type and if the owner is reported he/she will have to prove its not a pit and a performancew ambull.which sometimes isnt straight forward.had this happen to friends.
