hi can any one give me some advice please, i have had my puppy 2 days now, the breeder gave me a bag of, skinners, field and trial puppy food, but my puppy lab has not eaten any of it, she is very livly and playfull, but wont even look at this food, any advice welcome please.

Hi,
Puppies often go off their food when they go to their new homes. It's an incredibly unsettling experience for them. Make sure you put the food down at her regular meal times (maybe moistened with some warm water to bring out the scent) for about 15 minutes or so four or five times a day. As long as she is drinking, and is lively and happy you shouldn't have anything to worry about. What did the vet say when you took her along for her first check-up?

Jeangenie is correct in everything shes is saying. I'll just add that Skinners is a very good food. You could get a tin of something and add just a little to each meal. It tends to have a stronger smell and may be enough to start your puppy eating.

I've got my pup on skinners and she's doing very well on it. However, I do add warm water to it and let it soak. She won't touch it dry. When she goes off it I add a bit of pedigree chum pup to tempt her back into eating. Works for us.

Dont worry Cafe. As she's a Labrador you will soon be wishing she'd stop eating!!! ;)

thanks john, your right, i already have a 4 year old male lab and he always eats his food, just that this one looks to being abit more fussy, but i think i might have cracked it now.
