sorry about the pun...
v. interested in SCWT'S. went to see 2 in someones home. I got told they do not yap all the time, but these did. they didnt stop attacking eachother (playing?) for the whole hour. Is this because they had 2 and they were agrivating eachother? or is it in their nature. i konw they can be a dit of a handful, but one of the dogs had a national nickname of ted the terrible. everyoe knows him as that.

will all scwt's be like that, or if it is on its own, will it be any better?

ps- i heard you cant trust a wheaten off the leash- true/false??

why dont you go on http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk
go to discover dogs i think and then click on terrier then scwt and it should bring up its description
failing that go to the library and read up on them,i got a very interesting book when we were trying to make our minds up on our next breed,we didnt go for a scwt mainly because my hubby didnt want a dog with a longer coat

Ted The Terrible is a typical wheaten. They are boistrous, lively and do all the things that terriers do. They can be trusted off lead if they are trained properly, but as with any terrier they can have selective deafness, especially if they can smell a rabbit or something. They need proper puppy socialisation classes and basic obedience training.

My friend had a wheaten terrier and the whole time I was there (each and every time) it barked non stop. My friend said he was always like that when someone came over. It was as if he didn't like her talking to anyone. Outside the house he was fine.

Hi Saffy
We used to have a SCWT and friends of ours have three at the moment (used to have 5 !!).

They are indeed very boisterous and can be extremely vocal and I would say owners need lots of energy and patience.

Personally I would recommend that anyone thinking about getting a Wheaten makes absolutely sure that it's the breed for them. Life will NEVER be the same again !! :D
