i have 1 dog & 1 breeding bitch, she has had 2 litters. i have kept 2 bitch puppies for showing & breeding in about 3 yrs. My dog Cavalier has a clear heart according to my current vet, my breeding bitch has just only revealed a grade 1 heart murmur, she is 5 & half yrs.How do i go about getting official docmentation to prove this,my vet seems unable or unwilling to do this? Should i change to a different vet? Also, is a clear heart for a Cavalier at 6 yrs good or average? Should i now retire my breeding bitch with her condition, vet didn't give a clear answer?please help. Cookie.

I'm sorry but the average vet is not qualified to do proper heart tests. You should take your dog to a qualified cardiologist. They would be more than happy to give you the relevant documentation.
I don't know where in the country you are but I can tell you that The Health Heart Partnership are offering both Heart and eye tests on Sat Sept 6th near Grantham. However I think you need to be a member of the CKCS club to attend, and I'm assuming you are not or you would have already known about this event.Testing is done for free.If you want any info regarding this event then e-mail me and I will give you a contact tel no
