We are about to buy a puppy from a breeder, the dam has clear eyes and hir score of 6,3 the sire clear eyes and hip score of 8,6. Both have a lovely temperment. puppies are at the moment 3 1/2 weeks old, we are going to visit again in 2 weeks to pick our pup then return at 8 weeks to collect. Dams father was SH CH. Both parents are KC reg with full blood line history on both. price is 400. We have left a small deposit to secure our pup but not enough to bother about losing if we were not happy. Have i got sufficient details to be happy with my purchase? Is this a fair price for quality? I am worried i have missed something and not found out all i can. Please advise. also parvo vac at 6 weeks and insurance for 6 weeks.

Hi,
It's good that the sire and dam are health tested, and both have good temperaments. It sounds like the breeders are doing their jobs properly!!
Regarding the hips, I don't know what breed this is, but you can find out the average score for the breed on the BVA website (not sure of the addy, so maybe someone else can help??)
Try not to take too much notice of the fact that the Dams Sire was a Show Champion....it can never guarentee how good your pup is going to be.
The best thing you can do is read as much as you can.
Have you talked to any other breeders/owners? Thats always a good thing to do.
I'm not trying to put you off your pup!! Just saying it's best to gather as much info as possible first.
About the price..again..it depends on the breed.
Hope all goes well.....and I'm sure someone will be along soon with better advice!!
Take care
Lisa

Also....why not register as a member? There's lots of useful info on here, and loads of people to talk to whatever your chosen breed.

I don't know what breed it is but doesn't sound bad at all. Wd. need to know the breed so that we would know what the hip score breed average is, but for any breed the mother's at least sounds quite good.
I hope that your puppy is everything that you wished for when you see it and that you have a number of wonderful years together.
