I know dogs moult and i expected it a lot of it but his hair seems to be falling out by the handful its also very dry and dull looking the vet said that it was a perfect coat but i dont feel the same i add oils vitapet moulting oils to his food but that doesnt seem to do the trick i thought of adding butter i used to years ago with a previous dog and her coat was imacculate any advice?

I know nothing about caveliers, but 11 months is about the time when "coated" breed puppies come into their adult coats. Shedding will be excessive when they do.

You are so right Stacey My youngest dropped nearly all his puppy coat around 11 - 12 months just as we had him entered at Ch shows:) Still hes now getting his adult coat and the moulting has stopped

Please don't worry unless loses all his coat & has bald patches the quicker the old coat comes out the qicker the new adult coat will grow

You can help remove his old coat by stroking him with a rubber hound glove, this will also help to clean the coat and give it a shine, polish with a velvet glove or chamois :)
