Topic Dog Boards / Health / bloody stool sometimes loose
- By lovemynewpup [us] Date 26.08.03 02:40 UTC
I purchased a Staffy pup two days ago....his stool was fine until today. I have not changed his food from what the breeder gave him, but he sometimes has a bloody mucas tinged stool. He also goes more than normal. I took him outside and the stool was pretty normal, I bought him back into the house and he went on the floor twice. He has been wormed and has received his shots so i dont know what is wrong with him...i am VERY worried although he seems fine otherwise...does anyone have any advice??????

Its probably the stress of moving homes affecting his tum. Let your vet know about it, ( its fine to ring for free advice ) but as long as he is not being sick and is eating greedily and is bright and happy and lively dont worry too much. It will probably pass. What did the breeder suggest to feed him on - are you giving him anything at all extra - like milk - that the breeder didn't? For the next 48 hours I would give him smaller meals than usual to give his tum a bit of a rest - say 75% of what he has been having. If he starts to look at all poorly take him to the vet straight away. Hope this helps.

thank you to everyone who gave their input....i did take my"Brok" to the vet....she said it could have just been a virus that he picked up. He is on boiled chicken and rice and also given two meds that he has to take for a few days. He was given liquids and he seems MUCH better :-)

hi there,
my pup had the run's too, it could also be the change of water if you live a distance away from breeder!!
she was still very lively and was not sick at all, this went on for about 4 days
good luck
