Hi,
I have very recently moved to Aberfeldy in scotland and can now start looking (at last) for my weimaraner.
I am in the process of joining the scotish club to help put me in touch with breeders.
I have since seeing this beautiful breed, had the image of the silver grey with blue eyes.
I am looking for advise on the following, how can i be sure that the pup will keep the blue eyes, as it mentioned in a few of the books i have read that they all have blue eyes as pups.
Will it depend on the parents colourings??
PS We have a afgan hound and mad cat also, do the weimaraners mix well when introduced from a puppy?
All advise greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but by the time a weimaraner is 8 months old their eyes have turned amber whether you have the light silver grey or the darker version it makes no difference. However as for other pets if you introduce correctly then you will have no problems.
Could I suggest that you arrange to perhaps visit someone with several weimaraners, to be able to see them in the flesh while you are waiting for for the right puppy. Most good breeders will happily allow anyone to meet their dogs, this will give you a good insight to all the bits that aren't written in the books.

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for letting me know. I think they are great whatever the eye colour but least i'm aware now so no embaressing moments.
I am hoping to visit a few breeders etc and get a good idea of how they are round others. Like you say books can't tell you everything, breeders can.
I want to make sure i get the correct puppy for my home and take into account the others animals too.
Our afghan although quite aloof with strangers, loves having a play friend to run round the woods and fields with.
He's just over a year now so good time i beleive for the new addition.
Thanks again for the advise.
