Sorry to sound stupid but i know very little about dogs. My 8 year old daughter has for many years wanted a pet and has always been amazed by sausage dogs! My wife and i have decided to add to our family by getting a dog. We thought this would be the perfect chance to please little Jessica by giving her the sausage dog she's always wanted. Could someone please let me know what the breed is and where to find one? many thanks, Mr. Barlow. p.s we want a very sausagey dog!

Think you mean a Dachshund and they come in 6 varieties, 3 standard & 3 miniature.

Have a look at the breed info here : Info and decide first of all what type of Dachshund you want. As Jackie has said , there are different types ...larger , medium and small ...and there are wire haired , long haired as well as smooth coated varieties.

After you have decided on a size and coat type , go along to a few dog shows and meet up with some Dachs and their owners :) That will help you decide if they are the breed for you :)
