Hi,
HEEEEEEELLLLLP Sorry to shout but my computer seems to be affected by something, but I don't know what :(

The computer seems to be working over time (sounds like it anyway) and my screen is losing colour, basically it either looks bluish or greeny. It comes and goes, sometimes it'll be like it for the whole time I'm using it, other times it may 'threaten ' to turn colour but not totally and then again it may not !!

Anyone out there know what's going on???

I have a firewall and Antivirus which is updated regularly - both are apparently working correctly
I have also checked the menu on the monitor and the colours are working ok on that so I'm as sure as I can be that the monitor is not to blame.

Soooo Any ideas?? anyone???

Fed up

Maybe you need a new monitor? I will ask hubby when he wakes up , see if he has any idea

I think you're right Mel. Sounds like your monitor is going. Have you had it a while?
Could possibly be the graphics card, but most likely the monitor is dying.

have you tried the degauss, it normally works for me when the screen goes a funny colour.

The odd thing is the colour can be ok for days, then start going, then ok for days or a week or two then go again. I haven't tried degaussing, so next time I'll try that. When I check the monitor colours in the menu they're fine - even when the main screen is totally green
The computer was bought last year (with monitor, scanner, printer etc...) so I hope that the graphics card isn't going so soon

It all started when I downloaded AOL8, until then I had no probs ...... Its ok again today

check that the monitor lead is plugged into the back of the computer correctly

if it is hanging out a bit it will cause the symptoms that you are getting

My friends moniter was like that for a year or so (she used to give it a good whack on the side and it sorted itself out temporarily....) until it finally died a sudden death last month!!! Now she cant get anything to work, so maybe the whacking isnt such a good idea afterall!!

Thanks for this,

Degaussing didn't help :(

I'll get my other half to check that the monitor lead is screwed in properly (he hides the screwdrivers from me in case I get competent with them ;) ) - the lead at the back does wobble slightly

If this doesn't work then I'll try phoning a technician (££££££££ :( ) - I don't think I'm technical enough to whack my monitor :D and get away with it :D

Fingers crossed
Dill
