I was wondering if any one could give me any advise about my lab puppy. She is nearly 11 weeks old and has suddenly started to itch her stomach terribly. When she rolled over the other day we noticed a rash of orangy spotty blister like things all over her belly and wondered what it was. She has had flea treatment and we have taken her to the vet who has given her antibiotics but she just keeps scratching them and they are getting worse and spreading to her legs. Any advice would be appreciated!

hello,my rottweiler had exactly the same thing, and it was diagnosed as acne, and it got worse if he ever laid on wet newspaper in his cage,he was given anti-biotics and a skin wash.It cleared up in about 3 weeks and he has never had it since, and he is now 3.I was told that it was a teenage type zit thing. Please continue to see your vet if at all worried. good luck

try sponging her belly with diluted hibiscrub. and then putting some sudocrem on. or you can get some one percent hydrocortisone cream from your chemist. my girl suffered a lot from dry itchy skin and this always worked for her.

I think your dog maybe suffering from the dreaded GRASS MITE/HARVEST MITE.Hamish my dog has been to the vets five or six times this year with the same problem and finally Fingers crossed it is under control.
I use Frontline on his neck regularly but this does not kill grass mites. He has had STRONGHOLD on his neck and his feet sprayed with the Fronline spray which does kill the little blighters.........eventually.
This year I think has been pretty bad for grass mites probably because of the heat but I will make sure I am well prepared next year.
Good luck !

Don't rule out a contact allergy.Do u use shake'n vac or similar product on your carpet.I remember both my daughter and the dog came up in blistery pinkish/orange spots some years ago and it turned out that they were allergic to the stuff.I've never used it or any thing like it since.
Hydrocortisone cream will sort out any type of allergic rash be it from that or any other scourse.Be warned though it shouldn't be applied to broken skin as it can cause infection if you do.
