Topic Dog Boards / Health / Cavaliers's sticky eyes
- By Cath H [gb] Date 18.08.03 10:52 UTC
I know that most Cavalier's have problems with sticky and runny eyes, but mine seem to be quite bad. My eldest (5mth) constantly has runny eyes, I bathe them frequantly but they don't seem to get any better. He is ok with them but I am wondering if it is worse than normal. My youngest (3mth) has runny eyes but they don't seem to be as bad. Any suggestions?

Hiya
Where did you get them from? Was it from a reputable breeder?
If so, it is possible they may have an allergy to something, or it could be something like conjunctivitis.
How long has it been going on for? I would get the checked by the vet, even if its not serious, you could get something for it to make them more comfortable. Do they seem worse in the morning after a nights sleep? If so, it sounds like conjunctivitis. You may get some ointment called fucithalmic gel which you would apply into the dogs eyes ( in the corner and where we apply eyeliner).
Good luck.

I got them from different breeders. I am going to get in touch with the vet today about it. I wasn't too sure as I know that cavs can suffer from runny eyes. Thankyou

I have taken them to the vets and she gave some gel. She thinks it is a mild infection that Ozzy started with then he kindly passed onto tilly. Fingers crossed

Hopa all gets sorted out..unfortunatly, eye conditions can be passed from dog to dog, typical!
