Topic Dog Boards / General / Puppy classes

Just wondered if anyone else has tried or is thinking about puppy classes? I take my 2 Cavaliers (5 and 3mths) to puppy classes (1st class last night) to mainly socialise them with other dogs/people and to train them basic commands. After just 1 class they are already sitting on command with the use of a clicker and Ozzy (5mth) has nearly mastered lying down. I am chuffed with their early progress and would recommend classes to any puppy owner :-)

I am starting classes on 1st Sept, my pup at 18 weeks can already sit, paw and lie down. It is maily pulling i want sorted and listening to me when we are out.
What did you do on your first lesson, did you have to introduce yourself in front of everyone.

On our first night we were shown how to use a clicker for training and general commands ie sit, lie down, stay, come.We also had to say that we thought our dogs needed more attention paying to, my youngest ignores me when i call her so that was my main point. Next week we are going to train out pups how to keep occupied so they don't go running after other dogs when out. I think it is well worth the money. The classes that we go to also do the KC Good citizen awards which i hope to do later (not me, my cavs !!).

Good luck with your classes
