Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / 28 days Pregnant and won't eat.

My boxer girl is 28 days into her pregnancy and she wont eat at all. It started on her 22nd when she had loose stools. I took her to the vet and she was given an injection and put on a course of tablets (at no risk to the pups) She never ate at all for 4 full days and her diarea was just like water (she was drinking ok) I took her back to the vets and she was given a scan to confirm that she was pregnant. Her temp was taken which was normal. The vet gave her more tablets and a paste that has to be given with a syringe. I was told to feed her chicken pasta and white fish for 4/5 days. I would feed her anything but she wont eat! Kyra loves chicken (as most dogs do) but she wont touch it or any other food she has to go back to the vets in 2 days time but by then it will be 8 days without any food. I am so worried about her i dont know what to do, please help! Kyra is also sleeping a lot but when awake she is still very alert and doesn't look ill. This is Kyras 2nd litter and she wasn't like this first time round (and she wont be like this again, thats for sure, my girls not going through this again)
Any advice greatly appreciated
Jen

Jen i would be taking her back to the vet first thing in the morning, her life and the life of her babies is at risk here. If she wont eat could you get her to drink milk or rice pudding or even chicken soup. Good luck

I had a bitch to stay with me to whelp (owners health was too poor to rear a litter). When she came to me she haed dirhoe, and no sooner did she eart then back it came. She basically decided that food was the enemy and I spent the rest of the pregnancy force feeding her. I soaked her food and sat her between my knees four times a day and put balls of food down her throat. I had to keep on doing this until the puppies were weaned, as she flatly refused to eat herswelf.

Once her pups were weaned, and I was happy that her weight and condition were good I gradullly reduced the soaked feeing by hand and put the dish down.

She also ended up with a C section, as she had lost body condition, and had depleted her calcium reserves and had to be on cal o cal d liquid supplement throughout lactation to prevent Eclampsia.
