My puppy is on Royal Canin Maxi Junior and is doing fine on it. However, I am a bit concerned about the protein level (32%), so I'm thinking of changing to a lower protein food whilst he's young. However, apart from that, I believe it is one of the better complete foods, and I may return to the adult version.

hi sarah,my 17 week old akita pup is on the giant puppy food and she loves it.this is what the breeder was feeding her and we have kept her on it.although it is high in protein the protein isn't from soya ,i think it is fish based.

Hi

We have all six vallhunds on Royal Canin. The dogs range from 6 months to 8 years. All do very well. The last litter we had was reared on the mini junior (they don't do a puppy food).

Royal Canin do do a puppy food that pups can be weaned on and it is fantastic. It is called "starter". Don't think it is available in the shops so you may need to contact your area rep.

Starter puppy is exactly that, a weaning food (they also do first milk as a replacement/supplement to the bitches milk).

I have a friend who has just reared her mal puppies on it and they look fantastic and chunky whereas others i have seen look somewhat leggy at the 15 week stage. I have also heard good reports of bitches being put onto the starter puppy prior to whelping and this has increased the milk production.

By the time the pups are ready to go to their new home they are on the junior food. Sorry the last post was somewhat confusing.

i think i might start introducing to my 2 puppys then as they are going off the food i was feeding them (science plan) i recived a free sample and gave them it with there normal diet they ate the royal canin and left the other,so i will invest in a bag and add more to the normal diet each day until they used to it all the time.
