Hi
I am currently interested in getting a male dogue and what i really wanted was any information about them, good or bad. I currently have 2 male boxers and i am used to dealing with big stubborn breeds!!! I won't be getting one until the end of the year and would really appreciate any information on these wonderful dogs!
Thank you!!

I have 2 Dogue de Bordeaux, they are not a breed to enter lightly,Look in the breed directory on this site there are a lot of breeders to get information from, they do have quite a few problems look deeply into pedigree's.Contact the Dogue De Bordeaux Club of G.B. John Woods.Rivercroft.419 North Brink Wisbech CAMBS 01945 466121.Beware there are a lot of people just in it for the money.Make sure all health checks have been done on the parents, and assess to temprement of as many Dogue's that you can any reputable Kennel will let you vistit and meet there dogs well before litters are due. They are a brilliant breed if you get a good one both mine are eager to please.

As Britney has said they are a fantastic breed - not that we are biased :D - but like she says ensure parents have had their hips scored as as with alot of other large breeds hip displasia can be a problem. :-(
Do visit the kennels before making a decision and watch ALL the dogs at the kennels and how they behave around strangers and children etc.
In all fairness most Bordeaux will bark like crazy when a stranger first comes on their territorary but they should settle as soon as they know you are with their owner an no threat. After all they are natural guard dogs :-).
They are very protective and loyal to their families and fantastic with children - be careful with small children though as the shear size of them can accidently knock a small child over :-).

Thanks for the advice!
I will find out as much information as I can about them! The breeder I have contacted has told me to come round to see her dogs whenever I want which is always encouraging!

Where do you live? There's Discover Dogs in London in November where you can go and see the breed and meet up with some of the owners.

Hi
I unfortunelty live in Lancashire so London is quite a long drive! I will definelty be going to see the breeder before i make my mind up and i have also just ordered a book about the breed. I like to know as much as possible about a dog before i buy one especially such a large breed!
