As many of you know we are renovating a house and so put Darcy with a dog sitter for a while becasue we just couldnt get on with any work while she was aaround.
By the time she comes home she will have been there nearly a month.
We go and see her a couple of times a week, and yesterday had her at the new house for a couple of hours, but all she did the whole time was mope, she was initially happy to see everyone but then just sat in the corner with a very sad look on her face.
As soon as I took her back to the sitters and her best mate Eve (another choccie lab) she was fine!
Have I made a rod for my back by getting her used to having constant company, or will she settle back into her routine
We are looking into rehoming another dog but nothing is finalised yet so she may well have to go back to being on her own while we are at work for at least a few more weeks.
Edit: I forgot to say she has been to the sitters plenty of times but the longest shes ever been before is 4 days. She was always fine then!
I am not picking her up finally until Monday, but am now very worried she is going to be miserable!
Help
Any chance the dog sitter and Eve can dog walk her while you're at work? If they can't travel to your new house could you drop her at the sitters ? Or youd have to go back to the beginning as you did when she got used tolbeing in while you work - she'll need time toget used to the new house as well - any chance of someone pulling a sicky? Just brainstorming:)

She will settle back down may take a weeks or two. We aquired a mums golden retriever three years back but only had her for six months before she was pts dues to rapid decrease in health she was 12 1/2 when she left us, or older dog moped for about two weeks but soon got into the swing of being on her own again.

Darcy already has a dog walker who takes her out twice a day and Eves mum is already a very busy dog walker as well and cant fit us in. I know if I asked her she would have Darcy at her house during the day but it is already costing us over £300 to have Darcy there for so long and we cant really afford to have her there any longer.

Go on get her a companion!
You know you want to.
My two are the best of mates and IMHO think it was the best thing for them. (Maybe not the best for me :))

Have a look at Matties site. Theres a georgeous choccy bitch come into rescue.:)
Go on, be a devil. You know you want to, and 2 labs are easier than one, honest. :D
Lucy will agree with me.

Hi Rach!
Try not to worry too much. It is all new for her, and all her smell have gone. Also she is probably a bit confused about being at the sitters for a bit, then with you, then with the sitter etc..she may be a bit worried that you are going to leave her again.
Dont worry though, she will settle. Just give her time.
how is her eye by the way?
