Hello, Can you please tell me how usual it is to have endorsements (non registration of progeny ) on a puppy bitch's pedigree...........this was on the registration form before i bought the pup,is that normal ?Can i get it lifted by the Kennel club myself....is it legal for a breeder to do this even before the puppies are sold.........we bought this corgi bitch to breed from.

Hi guest
Yes this is very usual, no you can not have it removed yourself only the breeder can remove endorsments. They are put in place to stop people buying just to breed from.

Hi Guest,
Many breeders put endorsements on their puppies' registrations - it's quite normal practice. They can be lifted by the breeder, usually when the pup is nearly adult and they can see that it has grown into a good enough example to breed from. But KC rules state that the buyer has to be made aware of the existence of the endorsement before purchase, and sign a declaration to that effect. If you have not signed anything like that, the KC might well be willing to lift the endorsement without the breeder's agreement.

Edit: The breeder can only put endorsements on a registration while the puppy is still in their possession.

We have put endorsements on our latest litter ,dogs and bitches which we will lift if and when all the relevent health tests are done, before the new owners even think of breeding them if that is what they decide to do. The new owners are told about the endorsements before they make the final decision to have one of the pups

I always put endorsements on my litters, i think it is our duty to protect pups that we breed.

Same here always endorse all puppy registrations, and state clearly when and if these may be removed.

Have even forgotten to take the endorsement off the bitch I kept, and had to quickly right in to ask for it to be removed, as had applied to regiter her litter, and it was holding things up :D

Have a feeling that the poster is not the original owner of this bitch, if it was obtained from someone other than the breeder, it will be up to the breeder to decide if they will lift the endorsement or not. If it was you who bought the pup from the breeder stating that you wished in time to breed from her, then you should have a case and just may beable to get the endorsement lifted. But don't rush in guns blazing, just ask and if you have or are prepared to have the health tests done and send a photo, then they will no doubt lift without any problems.

hi, well i have put endorsements on both the dogs and bitches in my litter because the way i see it is that i can ensure that they are looking after the puppy and notn just using him/her as a breeding machine. once the new owner has shown me that te dog/bitch is a of the right age, good example of breed and had all relevant health checks i will quite happily lift the endorsements. personally i think it is a very responsible thing for a breeder to do. :)
