Hi, I have a staffordshire bull terrier, i think but am unsure that she is pregnant and if so she is roughly 60 days pregnant today, she is not very fat but her nipples and underneath seem to be hanging down a bit lower than normal. How long do they stay pregnant for and when should I expect her to start whelp? The vet wouldnt examine her at all just said that i would be able to tell that she is pregnant but im not sure now. Could anyone help please?

Hi
my daughter staff had her babies after 63 days(on first mating), you should be able to feel puppies moving, kicking in the mum, is she unsettled in herself, scrapping bed, gone off food, always on the move, trying to get comfy?

Hi, she went off her food a last week for 3 days but is now eating fine again, i havent been able to feel anything, not seen any movement either so all i can imagine is that she only has 1 pup in there or is not pregnant at all, like i said her underneath is very saggy, hanging down, was yours like that? She has been moving around alot, and as we have the male here aswell she keeps mounting him alot, she does seem to be more hungry, even jumping up at the kids snatching food out of their hands. I just wish i knew

I feel like a right expert now I have just been through this lol, but you can go to the vet an get an ultrasound scan (like us humans get). I had my bitch done at 55 days and it cost me £14.00. Worth the trip! Otherwise you just have to wait and it could happen at any time. My bitch produced milk a week before she delivered (she was 5 days late) and you could see the pups moving around from about day 60. You can also get an xray (which I had done to check she had finished) this will tell you how many there are in there! SOme people dont like Xrays but my vet says there is no problem with them! Best of Luck!

I am assuming you bred her purposefully, as I haven't been following your story if there was any previous to this. You should probably get a scan, thats what I would do. It will tell you for sure either way. Are you prepared for whelping? With your box and supplies? They usually drop temperature... But if you haven't been watching her temperature, then it probably won't do much help this late in the pregnancy. As previously stated, she will most likely dig, and pant and so on. Make sure you get her used to her box, or she will whelp else where. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for your reply, yes i have got a box ready but she doesnt want to know she wont go near it at all, my vet wont even scan her, says its not worth it that i will know soon enough, that to me sounds like he's not a very good vet if he wont even look at her for me. Would I see any movement at all from the pups if there are any? im thinking that maybe she only has 1 or 2 in there that's why she's not so big and we cant see any movement? what do you think?

I am no expert but have just had a litter myself 4 weeks ago and i could see movement about 5 days before she had pups but she did have 8!!! I definitly think you need to change your vets urgently as if that is their attitude they wont be much help if anything goes wrong. My Girl would not go in her box atall, she had them all on a quilt next to the box, and i put them all in when over, But she didnt want to be anywhere until the last minute and then i had to be in the room with her at all times she just followed my lead as to where sje should go
Hope this helps a little
