Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Does anyone else's dog grunt when happy?

Not really a burning question, but just wondered whether anyone else's dog grunts or makes funny noises when he/she is happy. Cam (dobe pup) has this really endearing habit of quietly grunting/gulping when I stroke or make a fuss of him, or when I first see him in the morning.

Something completely unrelated ... I was in a taxi with him the other day, and he did such a smelly fart that the taxi driver started coughing and told me to open the window. Embarrassed, moi? :D

My Flatcoat, Libby, makes a lovely yodelling sound when I come in, and she's expecting a biccie too, as for the smelly end..........I ain't going to mention that :D

Both my Staffies make a really funny (and loud) sound in their throat when they are getting petted. If I didn't know any better I would think they were having trouble getting their breath. They both do it so I guess in must be quite normal.
Plus my pup does a yodel-bark (if that makes any sense) with excitement when he greets us.

Our Lucy clucks and grunts if we pick her up or pet her. When she does this our two cats stare at her like she's mad ( though they look at everyone else in the same way). :)

Just read the family your post Jo.. We all laughed cause we can relate. Sydney yoddles when he is happy, I take him to the show & he is very vocal yowling at other dogs and such, was a bit embarrasing at first then I asked other dob owners and they said there dogs were the same.

As for the smelly bit.. well let me tell you about the other night watching telly......phhhheeeewwwww
