We have just collected our new 10 week old GSD today. He is gorgeous! I was just wondering if someone could answer a few questions please. (Having only ever had a cats since being a child). I understand we have to feed him 4 times a day, but his breeder had him on weetabix and milk, is this good for a dog? We know we will gradually have to change things but I worry its not good for him. Also how many naps does a pup have a day? And how long for? Any advice would be appreciated. We also have a 1 year old cat who we are introducing to each other gradually, fingers crossed it goes well with them! I think we have a few sleepless nights ahead of us...but will it last forever?
Many thanks

Yes you feed them small meals about 4times a day as to what he's eating you could change him onto puppy food but don't change it strait away do it gradually over a week or two adding thee food a little bit more each day of what you are changing his food to if you change their food to quickly they get get an upset stomach.
My dogs when puppies would run around for about an hour then fall asleep for a few sometimes varied how long.
watch the cat doesn't lash out at the dogs eyes hey should be fine once they are used to each other keep them seperate when your not there my cats are the boss over the dogs hope this helps

Has your breeder gave you all the relevant info on worming etc? The breeder wormed mine at 8 weeks so I was to worm at 10 weeks and 14 then every month until she was 6 month old- from then I worm every 3 months. 10 week old - weetabix & milk:confused: When I picked mine up at 8 weeks she was fed on Eukanuba with a tiny portion of fish added to give the food scent- As Hannah says start adding a complete food to his diet and cutting out the weetabix- then you should eventually have a dog that is fed only on complete dog food. At 10 weeks old your pup probably wants a little over 200 grams of complete split between four meals:)
