Dogs of 6 month to 24 months.

But just check the sedule as it is a special class the wording may change but I doubt it.

Can you tell me what Maiden class is intended for ?
Is this for non-winners and can you enter say Junior & Maiden at the same show??

You can only enter Maiden classes if your dog has never won a 1st prize but puppy class wins don't count.Yes you can enter Junior and Maiden at the same show, but as soon as you have won either of them, then the dog is no longer elligible for Maiden.

No it is not a follow up any dog over 6 month can and will enter. It is just another age class.
Maiden is different because it is the dogs wins that count in this class.

Maiden for dogs which have not won a CC or a First Prize at Open or Champ Show. (but do not count Minor Puppy, special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes)

If your dog is not OVER qualified and/or is the correct age it can be entered in as many classes as you wish. In theory, with a 6 month puppy you can enter any class you like, except for veteran, Champion or a special like Crufts qualified. You would not of course enter more than 2 or 3. But Puppy, Sp Yearling and Maden would be ok if your pup is confident and lively.

In most schedules it says under "Definition of classes" : "in estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering for any class".

So if your dog wins a class within a week of the closing date for entries, it doesn't count.
:)

But if you do make a mistake tell the sec. when you get there and you will be moved to another class.

Do they let you do that though ???
The reason I asked originally was because I tend to send the schedules off early . I will have to hold back and see , wont I ?? .

If you hold off sending in the form until the last week then you'll be safe:) It doesn't include any wins that happen from a week before closing. I felt a bit funny this summer as I'd entered a load of shows in Novice, in the meantime I've won several firsts, and can't be in novice any more, but the wins were after the deadlines. Now I have to go in the 'big' classes :-D

I always used to wait til the last minute - sending off the entry two postal days, first class before the close of entry - and ALWAYS get a proof of posting!! There is nothing worse than travelling 200miles to a show you KNOW you have entered to find you are not in the programme and no way of proving you have entered - or maybe a bitch coming in season early etc.

If you turn up at a show with the dog entered in the incorrect age class then it will be changed to the correct one. (entered in minor pup will go into puppy or junior etc) If the dog in the wrong sex/colour class it will be put into the correct equilivent class (dog limit to bitch limit etc). If the dog is over qualified it will be moved into the open class.
