Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Help my schit-zhu won't sleep!!

I bought Geordie, my shit-zhu on Saturday (he is 7 months old) and I haven't had a wink of sleep since. I know its only been two nights but I don't know what he wants. When I spoke to the lady I got him off she said that he slept with her but I didn't really want to start that off so I decided to put him in the kitchen. I put his water down and his nice warm bed and said goodnight. As soon as I closed the door he started crying. He hasn't stopped!! By 5 o'clock in the morning I had had enough so let him come upstairs. I put his bed at the bottom of my bed, on the floor, and he went straight to sleep. I thought well I really don't mind letting him sleep there then. So Sunday night comes (and I've got work in the morning!) so I decided to let him sleep upstairs since he was no trouble the night before. OH NO, he didn't want to, up on the bed, down off the bed, up, down, up, down until I thought I've had enough of this so off he went downstairs. I decided to be tough this time though and just let him cry all night but he literally did cry ALL night. He never even stopped for breath. I decided to stick it out though and leave him which I did but can someone please help me. Am I doing the right thing sticking it out or should I put up with him trampling on me all night only to end up crying at the door anyway. I've tried everything. What can I do???

Stick with it ...he WILL stop after a few nights ;) Do a search here on the Forum for SLEEP and you will see that a lot of folks have had the same problem ;)

Thanks I have had a look at a few of the others and I realise I'm not alone!! Do you think it would be wise to give him a teddy or something as I have noticed that a few of the others have said this has worked for them? Also do you know anything about smells!! I know this sounds funny but he smells really really strong. I bathed him yesterday, which actually he quite liked, and today he smells again! Is there anything I can do to combat this?

Thanks for your help :)
