i dont belive what ive just read someone is selling a german shepherd cross staffordshire bull terrier bitch puppy, why the hell did someone let these to dogs breed, the ad reads like this---(copy and pasted it) Beautiful big boned baby girl.Crossed GSD/Staffie due to a well executed raid on my Staffie bitch by my GSD male! Both parents are KC reg and very good specimens of their particular breeds with superb temperaments. The puppy takes after her dad in looks, temperament and size. She has been running freely with my 5 other dogs so is well socialised and like all puppies she loves people. She was born in our kitchen and lived there until 6 weeks and is now outside in a kennel where she is more than happy. She will be 7 weeks old on 19/8/03. She has of course been wormed at fortnight intervals since birth. She is beautiful and anyone would want her if they met her, but she WILL be a big dog with a confident nature and shouldnt be taken on lightly. We are selling her for £200.
It doesn't sound like an intentional mating, judging by <<<<a well executed raid on my staffie bitch by my GSD male >>>>. Although steps could have been taken to prevent the pregnancy developing, the ad does sound as if the seller is being responsible in other areas.

It all sounds completely wrong to me! :( Okay, I'll accept it's an accidental mating - after all, surely nobody in their right mind would contemplate a deliberate mating between two breeds as disparate in size as these! But I don't know of a worming regime that starts at 2 weeks old - Panacur for certain starts at 3 weeks. The pups were born in the kitchen and are now in a kennel, but running freely with 5 other dogs - where is the real socialisation? It should be the other way around! Now is the time to bring them in to get them used to household noises, not put them outside!
not gonna get into a debate but i do agree, who ever dose take on the puppy will have there work cut out when it comes to bring the young one home, someone i know brought a puppy from someone who just had them in kennels so they didnt have any socialisation was the worse mistake they ever made dog was a complete nightmare.

I have to agree with you JG.
Far from this pup being well socialised, it seems there's a real lack of socialisation.
Seems to me these people think socialisation is just about getting the pup used to other dogs. I imagine that most pups of that age would be ok with other dogs anyway.....like you said, it's the other things, like household noises etc that it should be getting used to now.
it's just totally beyond me. :(

The point I was trying to make(not very well...obviously) is that the owner made the point that taking on such a dog, shouldn't be taken lightly (yes, no dog should be taken on lightly),
I should have made myself clear in the first place.
