I HAVE A GORGEOUS BLACK/CHOCOLATE TIP FEMALE WHO IS 15 MONTHS OLD. I WOULD LIKE HER TO HAVE A LITTER OF PUPPIES BUT I NEED A STUD DOG WHO HAS A WONDERFUL TEMPERAMENT AND IS ALSO QUITE SMALL. CAN ANYONE HELP. ALSO I WONDERED IF A FIRST CROSS WITH A MINIATURE POODLE WOULD CREATE A LOVELY PUPPY DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION. THANKING YOU IN ANTICIPATION,
ANN WHITEHEAD, GLOSSOP, DERBYSHIRE.

why on earth would you want to cross your bitch with a poodle? Why have a Lhasa, and produce a litter of crossbreeds?

go back to your breeder and find out what checks your bitch needs prior to mating - not just a once over by a vet either. Once she has passed these checks then a reputable stud might be interested - but if you want my honest advice, get her to ringcraft, show her, and get her out there. Get registered with the breed clubs and USE your breeder - because raising, and homing puppies is expensive, fraught with hidden problems and can, legally, put you in a lot of hot water. Not to mention you are risking the life of your bitch. HTH Chloe.

Chloe H, Thank goodness someone will speak up here, there are too many inexperienced owners looking for stud dogs to breed yet more puppies. There seems to be an obsession with cross breeding too. I find it worrying that most of these ads are by guests not regular users.

Ann, you say in another post (against the rules of the site, by the way) your bitch is very small. If this is the case, it may be physically risky to her life if she has a litter. If you truly love her, you'll put your bitch's health and well-being above your own wishes.

And personally, I believe people should only deliberately produce a crossbred litter when the rescue centres are not having to destroy thousands of healthy crossbreeds and mongrels each year.

Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear.

If you want to breed and your bitch is not up to standard(and hence should not be bred from) -start again.Do your homework-research your breed and then go to a reputable breeder and tell her that you want a bitch to breed from.If you don't want to show tell the breeder you will take the pup back to them for advice and will have the appropriate health checks done.
If you love you dog why would you want to produce pups that would be either poor specimans or mongrels???and could risk her life. Can you honestly say that its for the bitches sake-no!!its for you.Responsible breeders breed for the sake of their chosen breed,to improve it and keep it strong and healthy. They rarely make any money from it.
