My neighbour has a Jack Russell who barks loudly if I so much as touch the door handle. There is a high conifer hedge separating our gardens and he can always find a way through to my garden where he leaps excitedly around, barks constantly and occasionally digs. During the hot weather when I've left the door open he has come in, unbeknown to me, and actually fouled in my house (at least I assume it's him). What does this behaviour signify - and what can I do about it, short of becoming a prisoner in my own home?

I would certainly have a word with his owner/ your neighbour . He may not be aware of whats happening ( although he should be keeping an eye on his own dog ).
Is he left outside all the time?
Are you sure its the dog fouling in your house and not say a cat ??
Its certainly not something you should put up with -having a dog fouling in your house !!!!
The owner does have a duty not to allow his dog to become a nuisance . If the dog was kept in the house it would not be as much of a problem .

The Jack Russell is often but not always left outside. There is another dog there too, one too big (or well behaved) to get through the hedge.
I didn't actually catch the dog in the house, but I can't think of any other explanation. I know the particular smell of cat faeces, and this wasn't it - also there was a bit more of it than your average cat would produce, I think.

i would have a word. if the dog can get through your hedge he may also be able to get out into the street/road. he could be stolen or killed. also its irresponsible of the owner. if you could catch the dog next time its in your house/garden you could take him home yourself and then you wont be accused of blaming the dog for something he hasnt done.
