just a silly question i have just a week ago rescued a female border collie puppy,and i just wondered if they have long hair from an early age dose it grow as they grow,i know its a daft question but i just wondered,i did own a border collie until 2 yrs ago when he was pts:(,he to was rescued but was alot older.

Hi Thumper,
No you're right, the hair grows longer as they grow. Don't expect the full adult coat till she's about 18 months old.

Hi Thumper

Yes, it will grow longer, as soon as you think she has a nice coat you look away and it will all fall out, twice a year :D

Hi but you can get smooth coated border collies as well so dont be to disappointed if she never has the coat you may have seen on other collies.Gillian

to be truthful i dont mind if she has long or short coat she will still be loved and cared for,at the moment shes 5 months old,and her furs about 3 inches over her neck,back,but shorter under her belly and legs,she dont have any puppy coat left that i can see,she is also teething. like crazy,but not discructive and plenty of toys and playing and training with me and kids.
