How long have you had him, if from 8 weeks I would have expected you to have some improvement by now. Why not confine him to 1 or 2 rooms until you have finnished training. Would not expect him to be perfect but I would have expected him to ask to go out at least some of the time.

If you join and let us have more detail of how you have been training and the way you are managing his life, I am sure someone will come to your aid.

At 17 weeks he is still very young :) Take him back to the absolute basics.....take him outside every 15 minutes or so and give him the command that you will use (I say 'Hurry Up!' ) ...when he performs , fuss him up and make sure he knows he has done the right thing.

If he pees in the house (which he probably won't IF you take him out often enough) , don't make a fuss , just take him outisde and give the command.

Clean any pee up with warm water and biological soap pawder to get rid of the smell. Don't tell him off if he does pee in the house ...but keep on making a huge fuss of him when he performs outside , he will soon get the idea.

Make sure you TAKE him out though , don't expect him to take himself out

I agree with Melody on this, I would take it back to basics, dont let him have the run of the house and take him out ever 20 mins.

Also just a note you might want to invest in some odorkill - Its great stuff i wouldnt be without it!

Do you have any puppy books..I found 'The Perfect Puppy' very usefull when i got my pup...He was toilet trained by 9 weeks and at 12 weeks he was sitting by the door to be let out :) Its all about persiverance, some dogs do - some dongs wont but you will have to make him! :)

Good Luck

Roxanne.
