My lab is eating pretty well, I leave his food out for him and he just grazes. lol. I was wondering if one night we had vegtables or other *healthy* foods, if it would be okay to give him some. Im not talking candy, or chocolate or anything like that. I mean the meats, the vegis, ect. Is that okay?? I just feel bad because he's eating dry plain nasty food every day. lol We've tried to give him beggin strip treats but they upset his stomache.. so we've only been giving him his dry food. Which is eats, but doesnt look to happy about eating it. Thanks for your help
Hi
If your dog is grazing throughout the day, then he's not going to particularly look forward to his food when it's put down, if you know what I mean? It's there all the time for him.
My Golden Retriever had a very sensitive stomach, and most *people food* upset her,not a pretty sight :(
If you want to give him some *healthy* treats which are good for him, try raw carrot, or apple, but avoid grapes, rasins etc at all costs as they are poisonous to dogs.
Hope that helps?

Thank you :) I gave him a couple dry banana chips he loved them lol gonna wait and see if he does okay w/ them... :)

Hi,
My dogs get all our plate scrapings, whatever we have, as part of their dinner - but as they always have had, their digestions are used to it. Try yours with just a little and see how he copes with it.
:)

Hudson is the same ...anything left on our plates except bones , gets put into his bowl. When we have a Sunday roast he *knows* he is in for potatoes and veg and gravy ..you can tell by the amount of drool produced :D
Our dogs always get their roast on a Sunday (though not today - too hot to cook it!) and sometimes our leftovers in the week, maybe rice, pasta veg, and they are very partial to the occasional taste of a chinese takeaway (very naughty, and not recommended!)

We do give ours some leftovers - but it is important that they don't contain too much salt or additives - Chinese has monosodium glutamate which can be bad for humans, let alone dogs. As long as they only get very small quantites and not often, it probably is OK tho' :)

yep - everything goes in the dog bowl. My dogs also graze... they are happier that way :)
They only get a taste of the chinese - but why is the cat so interested when we cook an indian?!

I envy you all being able to scrap your leftovers in to your dog bowl, i can not do this with my GSD as it will come out quicker then it went in, if you know what i mean :-D
How ever we had my mum GR for about 6months when she moved to Ireland who ate everything and anything that was put in front of her sadly she was laid to rest 6 months after we had her.
I'm not sure weather to try this with my pup ( left overs that is) may be try a little a first to see how it goes.
How ever she does have veg if i cook to much and we always save har veg on Sunday:-)

My lab gets chicken, a green vegetable, carrots, a potato and either pasta or rice, sometimes I substitute the chicken for fish or pork, and very occasionally liver or kidney. I have fed her this was since the vet recommended it after she had her leg removed from cancer. The dark green vegetable was especially important as it has things in them that the vet said she would need to fight the cancer. Something must work well as we are now two years on after having been given six months tops.
