Anyone brought a dog over from the USA? California(San fran) to be exact. She will be coming over via the Pet passport but looking on the DEFRA website I cannot locate any 'local' airlines to bring her accross. the only option seems to be flying her to another airport to then be 'forwarded' on to the Uk - not ideal. Rumours sometimes start with regards to airlines thinking about it anyone heard anything -she will not be coming accross until Oct03 Thanks - p/s cannot wait to get her into the Uk showing ring !!!!

I heard that LA was to become a route. We imported our boy from Santa Barbara and he came through LA, but this was Quarantine.

I am sure you know, but ensure that the breeder knows that the chip has to be in before the Rabies jabs, and the blood test has to go to speciufic labs. Also that the pups won't be able to come over until at least 10 months.

Hi,
Virgin have joined pet passports flying out of LA. I think American Airlines are now also in the scheme, from wherever they fly (dont have first hand knowlefge of this - Bruce Fogle mentioned it on a radio show). Even if your nearest airport does not have an approved airline, your can still do the pet passport thing, it just means 2 or 3 days in Quarantine over here till paperwork is sorted out. This may be apreferable option to shipping between airports in the USA.

bye
Gwen

Thanks for all the info guys, will contact them all and see which is going to be best route. She had been chipped already but had to have an ISO compliant one done luckily she was actually due for her vacination so it was done at the same time. It takes so much planning ahead but just worried that it doesn't all go well and she has to go in quarantine.! She is actually a 3yr old American Champion so at least having to wait the 6mths did not matter as she just continued to be show in the USA, already have a puppy in but not due out of quarantine until oct so not sure how long it will take me to get him socialised bearing in mind he came in at 13wks and will be 10 1/2 mths when he comes out - wish me luck (comes out on the thursday - 1st show on the sunday !!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hi Borders, contacted DEFRA today, as we are sending a bitch out to be mated. The info. about American Airlines is not correct - not yet in the scheme. Only ones in from USA so far are:
Virgin -from LA X
Brittannia - from Stamford, Florida (package tour/charter flight)
Continental - From Houston, Texas
Cleveland, Ohio,
Newark, New Jersey.

hope this helps,
bye
Gwen

Dawn , the three yr old will not have her first show until the Dec as I need to get to know her and her me - I am not THAT good, thought Dec was going to be testing enough. The one who will be at his first show is the one who will have been in quarantine & I have visted him lots & lots so he knows me very well (maybe a bit too well as he is trying to practice his stud duties!!) & we have been doing (as much as you can) ring training in the kennels. watch this space in Oct - either it will go very well or very bad ? ? ?
