While I was at work last night(every one else was in bed) my 2 year old elkhound persisted in sitting at the bottom of the stairs barking and whinning until my hubby eventually got up to let him out for a wee- or so he thought. When he got down stairs he could smell burning and found an internal display unit light had been accidentally turned and left on and was causing the varnish on the wood to become VERY hot and let of a singeing smell.I don't know if it would have burst into flames but who knows!!Without my boys warning I might now be without my children, hubby, house and of course dogs.
All I can say is thank god for dogs!!

He's certainly earned his keep now! What a clever dog. And good for hubby for listening to him and going to investigate.
