Saw a piece tonight in the local paper about a family that had had their 3 year old Staffy stolen from a carboot sale they were attending.
They were offering £1000 reward for safe return . One of my friends commented about the silly amount of money they were offering but I actually WOULD pay that if it got my dog back. And more!!
Because of paranoia I have now actually deleted my email addy ftrom my profile as I have just thought of it as I write . :(
Would you pay a silly amount too to get your dog back and what lengths would you go to???

Yup! Me too! I would pay that and more to get my 'girls' back. Sadly this is what some thieves are banking on, but what else can you do???

edited to add, if you advertise a reward for the safe return of your dog, with no questions asked, you can (so I've been told) prosecuted for *conniving with thieves*, So sue me, as long as I got my dogs back!!!!

I always make sure the word "REWARD" is listed on my dogs tags. I would pay any amount of money to get my dogs back!

There was actually a story in the news paper here a few weeks ago where an elderly couple had lost their Jack Russel, the man who bought it back to them was given a $10,000 reward!

Have to say I'd pay too. My dogs are part of the family, so course I would pay to get them back.

I would chop my arm off for Millie if she got stolen (not that anyone would want it, but trying to explain how much I would give). She means the world to me, and aside from me missing her like crazy, the thought that someone could be mistreating her, and her confusion as to where I am and who she is with would kill me.
I would offer everything I own to have her back. So, in answer to your question..no, I dont think that £1000 is a lot of money, at the end of the day, it is your best friend, and a memberof your family, and however tough they might be, dogs are very vulnerable and impressionable, so someone treating them badly would wreck them.

I know my insurance company will offer a large reward if Darcy goes missing.

i saw a similar advert and reward at a car boot on saturday, was it in lancs area?if so it still hasnt been found:(I dont think it is too much, i would give everything i've got to get any of mine back:)

You have to be so careful nowadays. I won't even leave my cavs outside a shop in the fear they may not be there when I come out. I know my insurance company also offer a reward if they go missing, but to be honest i would give anything to get them back. They are my family.

It can make you very paranoid cant it - hearing all the stories of stolen dogs :(

it def can make you paranoid Lel. To be honest, it hadn't entered my mind about anyone stealing a dog of me, or the kids...but then again, at the time I had a x GSD, and a Jack Russel. Now I have the JR still, and a Basset puppy. I've told the boys they can still walk Rocky, but no way will they be able to take Henry Basset out by themselves...just in case.

Cant remember the exact details now as I think two have been stolen fom different carboot sales . I know one had been tied up ( which i must say I would never do). One was seen to be untied by a boy of 12-14 and the dog led away .
I'm afraid I dont trust anybody anymore which is sad . I also never let my son take out Gus on his own .
