hello I Have a 2 and a half yr old cocker, she cam into season about bout 14 days ago, but uh oohh were going on hoilday in a week, and shes goin to a house with another cocker spaniel. please can someone tell me how long seasons last ,beacuse we dont want to breed her yet. hes a lovely cocker but has no papers. we will have to make alternative arrangements if its a bit risky.

You need to keep her away from males for at least 3 weeks from start /end

Every bitch is different but I would make alternative plans, just to be on the safe side. Some bitches have been mated at 26days after the start of their season and had puppies.

On average, most bitches are only receptive to males for 3 days during their season. Our GSD's last season lasted for 20 days, a little under three weeks. She would happily play with her male friend and nothing happened - she put any male coming up to her with ideas in their place! LOL But it might just depend on the dog.

If you are totally against mating her just yet then maybe you should make other plans to be on the safe side.
