I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, esp. as most of you will have been to the Champ Show by now - but the bad gastro enteritis going round the New Forest area has apparently been shown to be parvo :(
I saw the info on another site and the info is on www.scottishshc.org.uk/forum/disc (I checked it out under Last Week).
The reason i am mentioning it is in case anyone's dog does come down with ill health. My own Terv, plus several friends dogs, (Flattie, Goldie, CKCS, a few xrossbreeds) have all had what we thought was a bug (and i suppose it could still have been a bug, but after reading this site i am now not so sure...)
ALL our dogs are adult and vaccinated against Parvovirus. My Terv passed what looked like pure dark blood but is absolutely fine now, all dogs have recovered.
I dont want to alarm anyone, and i am sure all your dogs are fine, but felt i should at least mention it due to the fact that vaccinated dogs seem to have picked it up :(

Hi
It is likely that the dogs you mentioned have a bug or were bothered by the heat. It takes between 4 and 7 days for parvo to show. It is not air bourne but can be carried by dogs, shoes and clothing but mostly through contaminated feces.
We got to show before we heard so have taken precautions since. Clearing up in the garden straight away, disinfecting food / water bowls. Extra washing hands etc. I am hoping that there were no contaminated dogs in the show ground because the possibility of infection and spreading would be huge.
Dogs that are up to date with vaccinations are unlikely to contract parvo, though of course it is not impossible. Stay vigilant vomiting is one of the first signs your dog would also become dehydrated if they have parvo.
Hope yours are OK

Thanks for the info, my dog is fine now. We did all think it was originally just a bug, but it's just after reading that site we weren't so sure, as the tests came up as parvo although the vets did think originally it was just gastro enteritis.
I'll take a look at that site, thanks.
Lindsay :)
