My three year old Bichon is pregnant for the first time and is quite unhappy. She is a lot bigger than I thought that she would be and is having difficulty getting comfortable. On the vets advice I have gradually changed her feed to Eukanuba puppy to ensure that she gets sufficient calcium before she has her puppies but she isn't eating much more than usual. She is also wretching occasionally as if she is going to be sick but isn't. Waterworks etc OK. Is all of this usual?

Hi i dont have Bichons but do know that you need to be very careful with your bitch how far gone is she? if she is very big dont force her to do any thing she isnt happy to do, and in this heat it is much worse( are you in this country uk) as for her food take her off the stuff and feed her better food eggs/ cottage cheese/ beef/ natural live yogurt goats milk all the foods that help puppies grow and are good for mum, lots of luck

Hi - I'm the guest - couldn't reply without registering -

Holly is due on 26 August so only has a couple of weeks to go. She has access to fresh food all day so can eat as she wishes and we are just letting he do whatever she wants - which isn't much - and giveing her lots of love and affection when she wants it. She was at the vets two weeks ago and he seemed to think everything was Ok but, as this is the first time for both Holly and me I'm being a little over protective. I'm looking at her now lying next to me on the floor and she seems to be breathing quite quickly but I'm not sure if I'm just panicking.

How far gone is she? My bitches have always needed lots of small meals towards the end of their pregnancies, because there's not much room inside for food. And make sure the food is very good quality - high protein, low carb.
