Am I the only person in the world who objects to my ears being damaged by these B£$^%&* things ??

The P*%%)£$ next door is playing with his again (and his boom box with ultra bass) and its VERY VERY LOUD and VERY ANNOYING :(. I know I can 'get my own back' if I wanted to (Daughters' in a Celtic Rock Band but they practise in studios) but I shouldn't have to - should I ???

I just went out and asked NICELY for it to be turned down and was basically told to get %*$(*&% stuffed and he turned it up!! (his friend was with him so he's acting hard). Environmental Health have had complaints from 1/4 of a mile away  before now but I know if I did that then violence against us would ensue.
Why do people find it so difficult to be reasonable these days??

Just ranting really but what do you all think about these things??

Feeling better now

Regards
Dill

In that position, I think I would let envoronmental health deal with it.
Having said that, we have had a couple of incidents ourselves which we stopped almost by accident. When we first moved into our present house, a terrace, our neighbours had a teenage son. One night he was at home on his own, and he started to play loud music, wouldn't have been so bad if he had't kept playing the same single over and over.....(and it was dire, remember the London Boys anyone?) He ran a bath, but the stereo was in a differant room, we tried banging on the walls etc, but that only made my hands sore! I had a brainwave, and found their phone number. Every time I phoned, he had to get out of the bath and go to the front room to answer the phone, turning the music down in case it was his dad! He gave up after about 6 calls! How he did't hear us in fits of giggles through the wall I don't know.
More recently we have had new neighbours move in on the other side of us, they like barbies, drinking and music. All kinds of music. One weekend I gave up trying to listen to the radio in the kitchen cos the music from next door was getting a bit loud. The stuff they were playing was pretty good though, and I reckoned, why waste my electricity when I can listen to their music for free! Things were starting to get good, when someone put on some Pink Floyd!(one of their albums that I haven't got myself) I went out to hang some washing out and called over the wall to "turn the music up please" so instead they turned it off altogether! shame I had been enjoying that!
Good luck with your neighbour though, Its a shame you can't pick your neighbours, then more like minded people might get on better.

I have a group of about a dozen cars that live round the corner. All with lowered suspension. The insist on driving at 100mph over the speed bump outside my house, scraping their exhausts and underside of their cars, and having their music blaring loudly regardless of whether it is 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning. I also have the DIY man from hell next door who, for hte past TWO years, has been drilling, banging and god knows what else EVERY weekend and most evenings. Dunno what he is doing and I am surprised he still has a house!!! :)

Same with the lady well i call her a lady over the road, day and night there are boy racer cars coming and going 24/7 with music on full blast, sometimes they sit in the street at ridiculous times with music blaring just having a chat when people are leaving or arriving her parties which are more often than once a week. I have seen the police round a few times, me being the nosy neighbour. The disturbing thing is she has too young children. God knows how much sleep they get coz we don't get much and we are over the road.

It seems to be the culture with some 'young' people. Especially the musically challenged. When I spoke to him he told me that he was 'tuning' it!!!! (cleaned up version) - I think what he really meant was trying to stop the car windows rattling as it played.
With his flash car, flash boom box and big, aggressive looking dog - one can only asssume that he's compensating for something :D but how can one person need to compensate for so much ???
