Can anyone give us any advise on do's & dont's our xena is 2yrs &
in her 3rd season, we have a studd dog for her but they are also first timer's.
We have her booked into the vets this week for a check up but most vets are
only interested in spayin this breed. We know a bit about breeding but as its
our first time we are a bit nervous & want it to run smoothly. If any of you nice
responsible owners can help us we would be most greatful.
Many thanks.

Are either your bitch or the sire shown?
Are BOTH of them eye tested and unaffected by PHPV and Hereditary Cateracts?
Have you checked to see whether the two dogs will compliment each other both in their lines and physically?
There is more to breeding than just sticking two dogs together. It is majorly important when breeding that a sound mind is shown by both dogs as well as soundness in body.
Have you contacted the breeder of your bitch for information on a future breeding programme for her and are both of the dogs KC reg?

You need to know more than "We know a bit about breeding" if you are not going to put your bitch at risk. Take time to find out more and to show her to make sure that she is a good enough representative of the breed to merit breeding from her.

Hi
Its great that you're trying to do your 'homework' before breeding but aswell as what the other posters have recommended I would like to say to you that you should read through the posts on the board - several of them are concerning bitches who have died at some point during the process of producing a litter. Are you sure you want to risk your pet for the sake of producing puppies??
