Hello. I'd like to take my dog out on a Halti or gentle leader. When I was getting information about the two of them, some people said that I MUST get a gentle leader and NOT a Halti. When I looked on the net, the gentle leader looked just the same as a Halti. But what's the difference? Why did people say that I MUSTN'T get a Halti but a gentle leader?
Thanks for your time and advise :-)

They are designed differently, the genle leader has softer webbing, and the bit that goes on the nose has an adjustable slide that keeps it a set width, so reducing the riding under the eyes effect often found with the halti, and less likely to get chewed up too, less likely to slip off the muzzle when slack.

TI've tried both - and the Gentle Leader is definitely better - once properly fixed it stays on - it doesn't ride up over the eyes or slip off!
They really are useful - I can handle 3 aussies, including 2 bouncy 9month old pups, getting out of the car, even if my wrist & shoulder are playing up with arthritis :D

I tried both for my ESS but they didnt stop her pulling, she would also get very distressed when wearing it so I gave up. I wish they had worked.
HI Sandie, my friend has a springer and a halti didn't work for her either. Dog used to pull with it's head on one side, sort of leading with it's neck! Not good!
I had a halti for my old girl when she was young (I had two dogs and a pushchair) and now I have a gentle leader for my present young'un - which I don't use but my daughter does. (Just gives her a bit more confidence walking her.) I much prefer the design as you can adjust the straps to make it fit and like someone said before it doesn't ride up like the halti does.
