i have a golden retriever, he is around 4-5 months and we have had him since around the begining of summer which is good, and he gets a lot of attention, when summer ends i have to go to work, and there will be very little attention given to him at this time which would be around 7-3... i heard that golden retrievers hate being alone.. so im not sure what to do.. but i HAVE to leave him, there is no other way.. is there?!?!?! HELPPPPP!!! PLEASE!!! IM SUPER WORRIED!!! i would greatly appreciate it if anyone can write back.. i need as much information as i can get.. thanks

also..i eventually would like my dog sleeping in my room (not in his crate).. and he is around 4-5 months.. when can he make this change to my room?! THANKS!

hi

i have to leave my pup to go to work but i do pop back home at lunch to let her out and feed her. at the mo she seems quite happy ,so don't feel bad but i would suggest you start leaving her for a few hours a day all ready so she's use to it.leave plenty of things to keep her occupied here's a few things i leave kong, chews, but her favorite is a cardboard box which she enjoys ripping to pieces getting through quite a few boxes a week now (don't laugh)

Hi Winky,
Start preparing him now to be left,so that he doesn't go from full-time attention to none. That will greatly distress him. And make arrangements for someone to let him out at lunchtime. My rule is that my adult dogs are not left for a longer period of time than it takes for me to need to use the toilet. Can you last without the toilet from 7 till 3, comfortably, and without getting bored? If not, your dog won't be able to, either.

Hi Winky if you cant make it home at lunch times to feed and spend some time with pup then get some to come in and do it for you? or ask at your local kennels if they do day care most do, this is what i used to do when i had boarding kennels we had so many coming in from 7-30 til 5 this way the owners were happy knowing there pets were safe and well looked after and they had knock down prices. jackie

wow yes, all of you helped a lot! I arranged for my house cleaner to take him out to feed him, play with him, and to go to the bathroom. Now I wont feel so bad when i leave! Thanks again!
